So, this weekend, I decided that I am going to put my 1971 FJ40 Landcruiser up for sale. If you are at this website, you might have found it a bit early, since I'm not officially posting it for sale. I just figured this free blog website is the easiest for me to update pictures of the FJ40, and provide as complete a history as I can.
Why am I selling this truck?
Basically, I'm not driving it as much as I used to, or as much as I would like to. It's very fun to drive, and ALWAYS gets the thumbs ups, honks, and stares. I've had people follow me and wave me down to pull over so they can ask me about this truck. I've owned it for about 4 years, and have never driven it off road. The prior owner was up in Oregon, and he also has never driven it off road. Also, I was hoping to be able to modify the rear bench some to accommodate my 3 little kids. That never really happened, and it turned out to not be the most practical vehicle for a family of 5. It's a great beach truck, but sadly, I've never used it as a beach truck, and I have never taken the hard top off.
So, that said.. I think it deserves a better home.
For now.. the highlights.. It's a 1971, Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser. It's smog-exempt in California, and I assume anywhere else. It is not a purist's or number-matching museum piece. It's been highly modified. Most notably, it has an awesome small block Chevy 350 engine, that I just recently replaced. It has less than 500 miles on this engine. It's been upgraded with super responsive power-steering, and Wilwood front disc brakes. The tires are Toyo MT 33".
There are some rough patches on this truck which I will detail later, once I have a chance to take pics.
I'm working on getting pictures, and collecting my
thoughts on this truck listing, so please come back or email me if you
have any questions. More details and pictures soon.
